Another good evening last night, I'm having a really good week so far in terms of good evenings! We have nothing on this week really, which is nice. I'm feeling like I have lots of time to get caught up on and do things that I've been wanting to do for a while now.

After work last night I went to Canadian Tire and got some Compact Flourescent Bulbs. They were on sale 40% off so $5.99 for a 3-pack of (equivalent) 60w bulbs. I also had $5 off coupons for a 2-pack or higher of Energy Star bulbs (which these were) so I bought 5 packs (all they had left) for 99c each. I saved over $40 total from the regular price of the bulbs and paid $9 total including tax for 15 bulbs. I'm going to go again today and see if they don't have more in and stock up a bit more. We're not using the compact flourescents anywhere in the house yet, but we would like to, so we're going to start replacing our bulbs as they burn out with these ones. Hopefully we'll save some money on our hydro bill too!!

After that I went and got gas in the car and then headed over to pick up Dan from work. He still wasn't back from Burlington yet, but I had my book with me so that was fine. I opened the windows of the car (it was beautiful out yesterday) and sat and read my book in the fresh air. I only had to wait about 15 minutes before Dan showed up and then we headed home.

We had leftover pierogies and sausages for dinner, YUM!! After dinner I relaxed on the couch for a few minutes while watching Friends and flipping through a recipe book. I found what I was looking for, a recipe for blueberry muffins. I baked up a batch for Dan (but made them whole wheat) and then started on a batch of pizza dough in our long abandoned bread maker. I'd thought it had a problem a while back so I stopped using it. Now I forget what the problem was, so I'm wanting to try again. Now, if I find it's still not working right, it's good timing to ask for a new one for Christmas. ;) I got most of the way through putting the ingredients into the bread maker pan when I realized that I was missing a pretty important ingredient - yeast!! I called the local store to see what time they were open until, but no one answered so they were already closed. I packed up two of the warm muffins in a baggie and took a little container with me and went for a walk down my road to see who I could find to borrow yeast from. The first neighbour I tried wasn't home, so I tried the first person I found hanging out outside. Score. I asked her for yeast and she appologized saying that all she had was bread machine yeast. I told her that's exactly what I needed and traded her the warm muffins. She gave me her whole jar saying she was keeping it in the fridge, but her machine had broken and she hadn't bought a new one yet. Yay for me!! So I walked back home, and finished the pizza dough.

After that I made my lunch, cleaned up a bit and went to spend some more time just chilling out. I watched some TV and painted my toenails and cleaned a bunch of my jewelery. My rings are very sparkly again today now!! :D

Went to bed around 10:00 last night and slept like a log last night which I really needed!!! I still managed to convince Dan to give me an extra snooze this morning anyway, I was so cozy when the alarm went off!! So far work is going well today. Nothing major going on, just the standard every day stuff.

That muffins-for-yeast trade idea was really smart! It probably wouldn't have occured to me to ask my neighbors.

I normally wouldn't ask my neighbours either, but faced with the decision between wasting the ingredients I'd already measured into the bread machine (because I'd mixed the wet with the dry) or spending about $8 in gas for the return trip into town for yeast, it seemed like a good solution.

That's so cool that you could just wander around your neighborhood and get yeast for two warm muffins. If anyone tried that in my city, people would probably call the cops. hehe

They were on the shelf in Canadian Tire. Unfortunately they expired Aug 31 though.
