It was a busy but great weekend. I'm tired today, but it was worth it!
All the pics are different sizes - I was lazy and let Photobucket do the sizing for me.
Friday
-Mom picked me up from work around 11:30 and we went for lunch
-We picked up our freecycle goodies and then headed out of town
-Started in North Oshawa at Addition Elle looking for dresses - they were crap
-Looked at the OC in their Addition Elle (where she got her dress for my wedding) - crap again
-Also at the OC looked in Julie's (formal dress store), The Bay & Laura. The Laura in the OC informed us that they didn't have plus sizes, but the one in Ajax did so we headed there.
-Checked out the Addition Elle in Ajax...still crap. Went to the Laura Plus in Ajax and they informed us that they were the "casual" Laura and the dressy one was in Scarborough so we trucked it to Scarborough.
-Scarborough Town Centre, hit up Laura Plus first and scored a ton of dresses for my mom to try on. She tried on a couple that she wanted, but I wouldn't let her get. They were too casual. We narrowed it down to two in the end, a more casual but still pretty one she was comfortable in and a more formal really pretty one that would need a slight alteration. Since I knew kind of what Jen's mom's dress is like, I voted for the more formal dress. So she bought it:

-Went to The Bay and found some perfect antique gold Jewellery to go with it, a necklace and brooch (to hold the jacket closed) - no matching earrings though
-Left the Mall and headed back towards home.
-Stopped at the OC again to look for earrings at their Bay (scored 'em) and had dinner at the food court (Jimmy The Greek & Yogen Fruz)
-Drove home
-Showed my mom a bunch of things at home, and then crashed into bed
Saturday
-Up around 8:00am
-Made us homemade Egg McMuffins & Hash Browns for breakfast
-My mom and I headed into Peterborough to run a few errands (return a rental to home depot for Dan, pick up a newspaper, bulk barn, shower groceries, etc)
-Back home to eat a quick lunch and get ready for shower #1
-On the road by 1:00 and heading towards Oakville
-Ran into some traffic but were still there just in time to fill up the car with gas and a pit stop at the gas station rest room
-Arrive at the shower at 3:30 on the dot and are the first ones there
-Everyone else arrived within half an hour
-Didn't know what to expect at first. Lots of sitting around with people we didn't know and would likely never see again...it got better though when the gifts/games started
-Played some games, met some new people, at a nice dinner cooked by the hostess, Jen opened her gifts, etc.
-Left around 9:30, home just before 11:00 and into bed again

Bride To Be with her Red Wine

Jen & her sister Steph

One of the shower games was to open a heavily wrapped gift (many layers) while wearing oven mitts

Steph won!

Inside were a bunch of items. One being a lipstick that's actually a pen. She was pretty pleased!

Fun blowing wedding bubbles

More fun with bubbles - both of Jen's sisters

Jen & my mom

Hilarious pic! My mom tried to take a picture of Jen & I but a bubble floated just in front of the camera right as she took the picture...we couldn't duplicate this in a million years I bet!

The Real Picture - I'm looking a bit tired at this point

All of us on the lawn. I'm rocking out.

Jen's piece - see, it has her name on it!!
Sunday
-Up around 8:00am again
-Dan made us French Toast for breakfast
-We finished up some last minute things: correcting some spelling on a name tag, making chocolate dipped strawberries, etc.
-Got ready and headed for Bowmanville
-Quick stop to pick up the cake and a few last minute items at Loblaws
-Over to the shower location
-Set up and decorate like mad women since we're running a bit late
-Room comes out really cute!!
-Jen and guests all start arriving at the same time
-We wait for the last person to show up and I try to get the first game started. People are filtering in and out of the room and then some people who I thought weren't coming showed up. So we found tables for everyone and I explained the game again (M&Ms Game)
-Game went even better than I'd expected. People shared some really nice and touching stories about Jody, Jen and Jody & Jen. Yay!
-Served the food up after that and got started with opening the gifts
-Played the timer game during the gift opening and people seemed to like that!
-Once the gifts were done I presented Jen with the Album and recipe cards I'd gathered from her family & friends
-Played the Newlywed game (Jen did pretty well!!)
-Cut up the cake and people started to leave so I handed out favours. Some people milled around right to the end and beyond and some helped us clean up which was great! The room cleaned up faster than I think it set up, which is amazing!!!

Wedding Party plus Moms!
Not so many pictures that day, Allison took more that me/my mom did with my camera.
After the shower my mom and I went to Loblaws and picked up some easy dinner (put it on a tray and cook it in the oven) which we cooked when we got home. We ate that and then just bummed around the rest of the evening before hitting the sack early again. Still tired today, but it was worth it! My mom headed out at the same time as us this morning and is headed for home too.
Phew!!!
