Friday Five

1) This is the 1st of September, what do you want to accomplish by the 31st?

I've had cleaning out the fridge and freezers on my list of things to do practically all summer. I sure hope to get it done in the next month! Lame, I know.

2) What does September make you think about or feel?

I always get that sense of "renewal" that some people talk about in the Spring. For me it comes in Fall. Even though I'm not in school anymore, I still have the urge to go out and buy a bunch of new clothes and office supplies to prepare me for the year ahead.

3) September is the ninth month; can you name nine memories so far from this year?

1. Proving myself as a worthy Canadian and curling for the first time (January)
2. Going to see two of my favourite bands, Nickleback & Live in concert in Ottawa (February)
3. Meeting one of my first LJ friends in person - [livejournal.com profile] shellbell (March)
4. Going to LifeFest with Julie & meeting Mike Holmes (April) Look how much my hair has grown since then!!!
5. My Mom & Dad coming over for Mother's Day weekend (May)
6. Relay For Life (June)
7. Going to my first Blue Jays game in years!!! (July)
8. Throwing a Bridal Shower for my Future-Sister-In-Law Jen (August)
9. Umm...the Friday before the long weekend (this weekend that hasn't happened yet should be good though, Jody & Jen are coming over!!! (September)

4) What does September have in common with three other months and can you name them?

It has 30 days like April, June & November! :D

5) The first weekend in September signals the end of summer for many even though it doesn’t really end for weeks. When does summer end for you?

Summer ends probably more like in October for me. In September the weather can still be as hot as August, but that generally comes to an end in October when the temperatures tend to drop and stay dropped. So for me Summer ends at Thanksgiving (Canadian Thanksgiving that is)

So it's Friday night of the long weekend and we're just taking it easy! Dan was in Burlington for work again all day today, and he didn't get home until almost 7pm. He wanted to go into work early this morning to prepare for his day (he didn't find out he had to go until quarter to five last night) so I dropped him off just before 7am and I went to the gym. I haven't been to the gym in ages! I've gone to Aquafit here and there, but nothing on any kind of schedule. I went this morning to actually use the equipment, and I forgot how much harder that is!! It was good though, I really liked being back and I was surprised to still be in as good of shape as I am...I thought I would have lost a lot more for being gone so long. I did 20 min on the ellipticals and then another 15 or so of weights today. My upper thighs are a bit stiff tonight and so are my arms, but in the good kind of way. I was planning to go to aquafit tomorrow morning, but I think I will give my muscles a bit of a rest. Especially since I scored a guest past so Jen and I will be going together on Sunday, yay!!

The rest of my day was pretty good. Fridays are always my busy days getting techs ready to go on the road for the next week. Today was no exception, I got four guys all their customs paperwork and maps ready to head out on the road (3 on Monday, one on Tuesday) next week. Fun times.

Oh, I almost forgot about the gym. So I got there this morning and was getting ready to start up my program on the elliptical. I had loaded a bunch of new songs onto my MP3 player a few weeks back so I was pretty excited about that. I turned my MP3 player on and what message is it giving me? No music files. What??? I was kind of pissed. Luckily, my MP3 player has an FM tuner and the gym has some TVs where the volume is on FM stations, so I alternated between TV and the radio station trying to avoid commercials on both. So I came home tonight and plugged my MP3 player in to see what the deal is. My computer is seeing all these files on there, so I hadn't screwed up loading them, but when I unplug it from the computer again it's still telling me that there are no music files on it! So I had Dan take a look at it after deleting all the files from it, I thought I'd try to re-load them. I tried it once myself and it did the same thing, it looked like it was loaded but there weren't any files when I actually went to play them. So I go to wash my face and Dan says he got it working. He didn't do anything differently than me, but for some reason it worked for him. Oh well, I'm just glad to have it working again!!

After work tonight I went to the grocery store to stock up on a bunch of stuff for entertaining company this weekend. Yay! I also made myself tacos for dinner. I made sure to make leftovers for Dan in case he wanted some when he got home, but he brought Swiss Chalet with him since he worked late enough to earn a dinner on GE. We'll have tacos for lunch tomorrow.

Tomorrow morning we're going to head into town. We want to go to the farmer's market to get some peppers and onions to make salsa this weekend. Our garden is overflowing with tomatoes! We also want to get some vegetables for dinners this weekend as well. Lots of good things are in season right now. I also need to do a freecycle swap, some girl was looking for a matted collage frame and I had one kicking around I've had for years. In exchange, I'm getting a bag of groceries she cleaned out of her pantry. Canned and dry goods and stuff. Hopefully there's some good stuff in there.

After lunch at some point Jody & Jen will come and that will commence the weekend of hanging out. I'm really looking forward to spending some time with them!!
