I'm so excited for this weekend to get started, you have no idea! (Okay, maybe Jen has some idea...)

My mom will be picking me up from work in a little under 45 minutes. Yay summer hours!! Then we can start our afternoon shopping extravaganza, the highlight of which will be looking for a dress for her to wear to Jody & Jen's wedding. I think I'm looking forward to that part more than she is. Hehe. I'm not sure how long it will take us, but it doesn't really matter. We don't have anything else planned for this afternoon/this evening, that's the main goal!

If we don't find anything we like, we still have tomorrow morning to look as well. Jen's first shower doesn't start until 3:30 in Oakville so we can shop up until then in Toronto if need be. I'm looking forward to Jen's shower tomorrow as well, it's family friends of hers that I've heard a lot about, so it will be nice to get the opportunity to meet them as well as have a party in Jen's honour!

Sunday morning my mom and I have a few things to do at home, and then we'll be heading to Bowmanville mid-morning to pick up a few things there and start setting up the room for Jen's shower thrown by me! :D We will start decorating at 12:00 and Jen will arrive at 12:45. Guests are to arrive at 1:00 and the shower will be getting underway from there! Hooray!!!

I promise lots of pictures this weekend, and I'll be unfiltering Jen's shower post after the shower on Sunday so she can get in and read it. Then I can move on and start planning her bachelorette party, my speech and other wedding related goodness in similarily filtered posts. Yay Future Sister-In-Law!! :D

because I'm tired and because there are things I've really been slack in posting about lately.

Today's Events
-Took the train home after work to transfer the ownership on my car;
-Apparently, to do a tax-free transfer of ownership, you need a commissioner present, and that office doesn't have a commissioner.
-Wild goose chase ensued, ownership didn't get transferred.

-Went to my parents' house for dinner (Tacos, my request).
-Remember why I don't spend more time talking one-on-one with my dad. If it doesn't concern Jody, he doesn't bother to remember it.
-Got all nostalgic in the basement with my mom. She's cleaning out the house before the move.

-Got on the Go Train and came home.
-Garbage collectors have been legislated back to work, strike is over and the garbage is already gone from my street. All we need now is for the litter collectors to come and pick up the litter, and a nice heavy rain to wash away the garbage sludge on the sidewalks that is still harbouring a few too many maggots for my liking.
-Heard a message on my phone from [profile] mum2hailey saying that she wanted to take me out for ice cream tonight and damnit, I wasn't home! I'm sure sometime in the next 7 months the opportunity will arise again though! :)

Recent Events I've Neglected to Post About
-Dan's mom has graciously offered to make my wedding dress for me, I have accepted and am now shopping for patterns.
-Family reunion on the weekend went great, Dan's family is hosting one July 28th, so it will be my turn to meet relatives that even Dan hasn't seen in 10 years.
-Joined Weight Watchers this week. Had my first meeting on Monday, so I haven't lost any weight yet! Will keep you posted though, although I'll probably be keeping closer track of my progress in one of the many dieting communities I joined this week. White is not a slimming colour contrary to popular belief.
-Worked too many hours this week...need sleep!!!

*goes to bed*

Ugh, time for bed again already. Where do the evenings go???
Went to the grocery store on the way home tonight to pick up mostly toiletries. Was running low on everything, I understand what it's like [profile] dreaxo.
Flipped around my wedding books for a while for some new ideas, but just wasn't in the mood for it tonight. I should at least make a list of questions to ask the reception hall people tomorrow though. I want to at least appear informed when we go in. Going to take [profile] dreaxo's advice though and take my camera with me. I hope it works out with this place, everything else seems perfect and I've even talked to people already who've had their wedding receptions there and liked it.
Don't know what else I did this evening. Talked to my brother on the phone for a while, my mom for a few minutes. Had some leftovers for dinner and did the dishes and that's like all.
I guess I worked half an hour late too and that kind of eats up time. Oh well.
I'm going to go and spend some quality time with my bed, my air conditioner and a good book.
Night all!

I'm exhausted from lack of sleep and coming down from a huge excitement high!
I can't remember the last time I went to bed at 9:30!!
I talked to my mom some more tonight, she's just full of good ideas, I'm so glad she's retiring and will have the time to help me plan things.
Called a bunch of reception places today and they were either booked solid, way out of our price range or both. So I consulted the handy dandy yellow pages and am setting up for round two tomorrow!
Time for sleep!!!

I came home from work this evening and knew that they were going to be coming to pick up the kitty, so I started cleaning up the place a bit...nothing major, just wiped the toothpaste out of the bathroom sink, put away the clean dishes, made my bed, etc.
The phone rang and I assumed it was Robin calling to say he was on the way over to get the cat, but it was my mom. She wanted to know if I wanted some company. She and Jody were going to come over and bring me all the apartment stuff Jody has been borrowing for the past year. My Brita, Microwave, Pots, Bath Mats, etc. I said sure, and went into hyper cleaning mode immediately, dusting, cleaning windows...hey, it's my mom!!
So they got here and I was just showing Jody around when the phone rang again, this time it was Robin and he said he'd be over in 20 minutes to get the cat.
So, I finished showing Jody around the apartment and the three of us had just crashed in the living room to chat when the doorbell rang. It was Robin and his sister (it's her cat) and the guy that's staying with them for the summer. So it's a full house! They all stayed about half an hour then cleared out at around the same time, taking the cat with them. I was just starting to get depressed when the landlord showed up to put a handle on Mike's door, he's been going without one so far. So we chatted for a while and actually have a lot in when he left, I got really lonely. So, I called Dan and talked to him for a while and when I finally hung up it was so quiet in here I had to turn on some music. That wasn't even enough, so here I am. Writing in my journal and listening to music.
I think I'll go to bed.

Went for a nice long walk with my mom tonight, it's been ages since the last time we did that. I was dying to tell her about buying the rings and getting engaged, but I bit my tongue. She wouldn't be able to keep a secret!! Besides that, I didn't want her bursting into tears in the middle of nowhere on our walking route!
We kind of talked about everything and nothing all at the same time. She gave me some tips on painting our apartment and how to plant a window-box planter on my balcony. I told her what kind of house I thought would suit them best since they don't seem to do a very good job of picking ones out for themselves. They pick the wrong things as being the most important like having a double car garage when they spend most of the time inside in the living room, which in the last two houses has been much too small to fit the furniture/accessories they like comfortably. They're also sacrificing bedrooms by having the bigger garages on a smaller lot, and it's really important to them that my brother and I feel comfortable visiting, but that's not going to work very well if the only place for me to stay is on a couch or a mattress on the floor.
We always have good talks like that...normally when we're shopping though. :)
Anyway, I've been really tired all day with allergies and stuff (maybe the walk wasn't such a good idea...) so I'm going to hit the hay early tonight (no, not the hayfever!). Just need to wash my face and pick out some clothes to wear tomorrow.

I'm now fresh from the bath and smelling of Chammomile. Thanks both in part to my tea and my Chammomile bath gel that my mom got me for Christmas.
Getting closer to successfuly completing my mission. Off to lounge in bed with my book and the rest of my tea.
G'night all, what a perfect Friday.

Damnit...I was just cutting open a courrier package with scissors and I cut a hole in my favourite sweater. It's knit too, so it's going to spread.
Not my day.

Update: 9:00 p.m.
My mom agreed to fix the sweater for me.
She is the master of these things.
I knew there was a reason I still live at home!!

My mom and I both have this game Bejeweled installed on our respective computers and are having a little high score competition. I had the first high score of 33,800. She beat that on Monday with a score of 35,200. I just beat that score with a grand total of 56,400 !!!
Can't wait until she calls tonight so I can rub her nose in it!
Nothing wrong with a little healthy competition right?
I'd call this a productive sick day. :)
